Fall Programs & Events 2023: Celebrate, play, and create with us!

Rockland Recreation is honored to offer the community with inclusive, engaging, and year-round comprehensive programs, services, and events to residents of all ages. Here are a few important community endeavors happening this month. We encourage residents and community members to attend.

Rockland Recreation & Community Center

Social-Community Outreach Meeting 9.20

You are highly encouraged to attend the September 20th outreach meeting. Your feedback and participation in the public outreach meeting will help create a bright future for residents of all ages, enrich the community, and offer a place for more community.

Our first Community Outreach Meeting held in January 2023 had a strong turnout with a variety of residents and community members actively engaged in learning about the possibilities of a new, all-ages Recreation & Community Center at Hartsuff Park. Great questions and ideas were expressed. All of them were noted and taken into consideration.

We are grateful to Schwartz/Silver Architects and Town of Rockland, MA Town Administration for their work and participation! If you missed the winter public meeting and are interested in learning more, then please view the video here. Thanks to WRPS TV and 88.3 FM for recording the meeting.

Rockland Fall Festival Community Event

RockRecWebSponsors-RFF23

Join us for a community celebration at Rockland Fall Festival to be held on Saturday, September 30th from 1-5pm on Union Street

This year we will continue our mission to showcase local businesses, restaurants, and Rockland's close-knit community. Talented artisans, entrepreneurs, and food & beverage vendors will return to delight the crowds! The event team is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we have received for our fundraising campaign. Funding will support live entertainment, a disc jockey, autumn décor, promotional materials, arts & craft supplies, character and activity vendors, trash receptacles, and other essentials to make the day run smoothly.

We are proud to announce Rockland Recreation was awarded a Festival & Projects Grant by Mass Cultural Council. The grant will enable the event team to feature local artists, performers, and our historical Union Street district. We are extremely thankful! A special thank you to MountainOne Bank for their generous sponsorship! They have gone above and beyond to support the event just as they have been doing for over a century with their clients. It's in their nature. Visit www.mountainone.com to learn more about MountainOne's mission and services. Plus, keep an eye out this year for their newly designed candy pails, which they will hand out to children to use for the candy drop. Look for their tent on Union Street!

Celebrate

We are delighted to offer fun and family-focused events and special occasions to generations of residents including Poetry Slams, Eggs-Treme Hunt, Adult Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, Terror on the Trails, Nerf Wars, and more. Partnering with town organizations, committees, and local businesses is meaningful to our staff. We are honored to help bring the town together.

Play

High fives to sports, fitness, health & wellness! All are a big part of our year-round comprehensive programming for residents and non-residents age three and older.

Tots' activities teach the fundamentals and beginner skills of popular sports such as basketball, soccer, and floor hockey.

As children grow, boys and girls are introduced to a wider variety of sports thanks to partnerships with Premier Hoops, Total Sports Plus, and F.A.S.T Athletics.

Exciting teen sports provide opportunities to socialize with friends, build confidence, and strengthen their developing skills. Soccer, lacrosse, flag football, volleyball, and basketball attract long-time players, or anyone interested in trying a new sport without an intense competitive atmosphere.

Adult fitness and sports programs give the 18+ crowd a chance to let loose, spread their competitive spirit, gather with colleagues, and be heart healthy. Yoga, kickboxing, and cardio and strengthening workouts are this season's fitness activities.

Create

The multi-talented Recreation staff has a deep appreciation for arts, humanities, and sciences. Youth and adult enrichment classes are making a mark on our Programming. Children can take dance lessons, be a chef in our Kids Test Kitchen course, experiment with different forms of art, and perform in Drama Kids. STEM and science classes are very popular. Boys and girls are challenged to build, learn investigative techniques, are introduced to physics, partake in science experiments. South Shore Pottery has been an inspiring partner with us offering pottery classes for adults and children.
