Description & Notes

The Town of Rockland, MA provides curbside trash collection and recycling every week and has a recycling center for use by Rockland residents only.

For trash collection, your recycle bin MUST be set at the curb along with your trash containers.

Generally, if Town Hall is closed for a holiday, trash/recycling service is delayed one day. Check the Event Calendar for posted holidays.

Rockland has gone single-stream recycling. Residents no longer need to separate paper from mixed recyclables. All materials can be combined in a recycling bin or barrel clearly marked “Recycling”. “Single Stream” recycling stickers are available at the Board of Health office for those residents wishing to use a regular barrel for recyclables. If residents have any questions, please call the Board of Health office at 781-871-0154 ext. 350.

To review the details of Rockland’s MANDATORY recycling program, click on the South Shore Recycling Cooperative link to learn more. For additional information, call the Board of Health at 781.871.0154.
This year the dollar value of the recycling voucher was set at $25, again, versus $50 as in past years. Please click on the following link for an explanation for the change in the amount of the recycling vouchers. Also, click on the hazardous waste collection flyer link to “take the toxics out of town”.

The Rockland Recycling Center on Beech Street is open Tuesday – Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It is closed on Tuesdays following a Monday holiday.
