Community Development Block Grant

Rockland receives a nearly $1 million ($999,9000) federal Community Development Block Grant for polling place accessibility and sidewalk improvements. Supposedly, this was the FY08 CDBG request authored by Wayne Darragh and the Community Opportunities Group and approved by the Board of Selectmen in the Spring of 2008.

As reported August 14, 2009 in the Patriot Ledger, “…Rockland will use the money to install sidwalks on both sides of Union Street downtown and to make the high school more handicapped-accessible”. Also, reported in the same article was that “…Rockland was one of the 10 communities that qualified because they missed out in 2008.”
