Committee Volunteers - All town boards and committees consist of Rockland residents. These volunteers work toward solving complex issues and recommending policy that helps to shape the kind of community in which we live. There are various opportunities available, which may correspond with your expertise and/or interest.  If you wish to help your town, please fill-out the committee application form and  return it to the Selectmen's Office.

Community Development Block Grant:   Rockland receives a nearly $1 million ($999,9000) federal Community Development Block Grant for polling place accessibility and sidewalk improvements. Supposedly, this was the FY08 CDBG request authored by Wayne Darragh and the Community Opportunities Group and approved by the Board of Selectmen in the Spring of 2008.

As reported August 14, 2009 in the Patriot Ledger, "...Rockland will use the money to install sidwalks on both sides of Union Street downtown and to make the high school more handicapped-accessible". Also, reported in the same article was that "...Rockland was one of the 10 communities that qualified because they missed out in 2008."

E-Government 2009 Award - On Thursday, March 19, 2009, Common Cause Massachusetts held it's annual e-Government Awards in the Nurses’ Hall at the State House.  These awards honor 117 towns and cities in Massachusetts that have made government more accessible via the Internet.  The Town of Rockland was one of the 117 Municipal websites to receive an E-Government award.  Rockland School Committee member, Mike Mullen, accepted the award on behalf of the Town of Rockland.

E-Government 2010 Award - On Tuesday, March 16, 2010, Common Cause Massachusetts presented it's annual e-Government Awards in Hearing Room A -1 at the State House.   In 2010, these awards honor 181 towns and cities in Massachusetts that have made government more accessible via the Internet.  The Town of Rockland, for the second year in a row, was one of the 181 Municipal websites to receive an E-Government award.  Rockland Webmaster, Sterling Smith, accepted the award on behalf of the Town of Rockland.

Yard Sale Permits - Yard Sales Permits are available at the Selectmen's Office from 8:30-4:30 Monday - Friday at a cost of $2.50. You are allowed two yard sales per year.

Veteran's Services - Rockland Residents returning from military duty in Iraq/Kuwait are asked to contact the Department of Veterans' Services Officer, Anton Materna @ 781-871-1393 x180.
